Prince Rogers Nelson known as Prince, born June 7, 1958 in Minneapolis, Minnesota and died April 21, 2016 in Chanhassen, Minnesota, is an American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer of pop, funk, rock and RnB music. He is also a dancer and actor.
Prince's career began in 1978 and his discography includes more than thirty studio albums released in less than forty years. He has also composed songs and produced albums for other artists including The Bangles, Sheena Easton, Chaka Khan, Patti LaBelle, Madonna, Sheila E., Mavis Staples and The Time.
His commercial success is Purple Rain (1984) and sold 20 million copies. He is also the author of Sign o' the Times, Tim Burton's Batman soundtrack, the hits Little Red Corvette, Kiss, Cream and Sexy MF. Nothing Compares 2 U, by Sinéad O'Connor, is also a composition by Prince, as is Manic Monday by The Bangles.
