Alain Bashung, born Alain Claude Baschung on December 1, 1947 in Paris and died in the same city on March 14, 2009, is a French singer-songwriter and actor. After a difficult start to his career, he became an important figure in French song and rock from the early 1980s onwards and influenced a large number of singers on the new French scene. He is, on a par with Matthieu Chedid, the most awarded singer at the Victoires de la musique with 13 victories throughout his career, including the last 10 years after his death.
